The information challenge

The University of Melbourne’s Centre for Mental Health (CMH) relies on accurate data collection in order to provide insights to help positively impact mental health in the wider community.

A high level of security is essential so that the information and personal details gathered are stored safely to protect the participants and to meet the University’s Human Research Ethics Committee standards.

As a trusted long-term partner of CMH, the WebSurvey research team at Logicly have delivered numerous information systems that provide sophisticated longitudinal data collection and safe user experiences. A recent example involved implementing a sophisticated monitoring and alert function to notify study psychologists where specialised and urgent care interventions may be needed.

Our digital solution

Logicly and CMH have worked together to successfully run research studies in a range of contexts since 2014:

  • Screening tools for identifying high-risk participants and sending automated alerts to psychologists in studies
  • Complex algorithmic data analysis for recommending appropriate treatments
  • Survey delivery over multiple time points so that intervention outcomes can be evaluated
  • Accessible data applications for researchers to monitor the survey completion process
  • Sophisticated algorithms randomising participants into control and study cohorts
  • Simple and user-friendly data collections for complex workflows

The outcomes

The importance WebSurvey research places on understanding client context, as well as our extensive experience in complex data management, have been key to supporting CMH in their work.

We’ve helped them to consistently create a smooth user experience for potentially vulnerable participants, as well as gather reliable and accessible information for researchers.

Through recent collaborations, we’ve successfully delivered insights that can not only inform future interventions, but that can validate and refine their impact after launch, such as mobile applications, media campaign videos, public service announcements and documentaries.
